The Personal RomMaker family of recordable CD-ROM systems provides users
with a complete and powerful CD-Recording solution, suitable for professional
CD-ROM disc development and publishing. Systems are available for DOS,
Windows (3.1, 3.11, 95, NT), PC Network, and UNIX (SUN, SCO, HP, SGI, etc.)
operating systems and allow users to record in a variety of formats, including
ISO 9660, Hi-Sierra, Apple HFS, Hybrid (sharable or non-sharable files),
Red Book Audio, ISO/Rock Ridge and UNIX UFS. Personal RomMaker systems
also support Mixed-Mode, Dual Partition, Enhanced CD (CD Plus), Video CD,
CD-I and CD-ROM XA formats. Some functions may not be implemented in the
Multi-Drive models.
Comprehensive disc management and testing features, including virtual or
delayed CD-ROM emulation and CD-ROM usage statistics report generation,
enable users to completely control disc geography (file placement) and
thoroughly evaluate and optimize a disc's performance prior to recording.
Personal RomMaker systems support three recording modes: Single session
(Disc-At-Once), Multisession (Track-At-Once) and Incremental. Our unique
Incremental support allows you to record multiple increments with minimal
overhead prior to recording a single table of contents. Finalized ISO 9660
incremental discs can be read on Single Session and Multisession CD-ROM
drives. RomMaker software also provides a unique Copy Utility giving users
the ability to transfer sector-by-sector their premastered image 'to and
from' a variety of mediums (8mm Exabyte, 4mm D/DAT, SCSI HDD, CD, IMAGE
File, etc.). Additionally, RomMaker also includes a unique Audio Track
Copy Utility, giving you the ability to capture CD quality sound without
the need for additional conversion software or sound card.
CD-R Extensions Software is a separate JVC software bundled with the RomMaker
systems (not compatible with Multi-Drive). This software utilizes the Packet
Writing Mode supported by the JVC 2x2 (2X Write/2X Read) and 2x4 (2X Write/4X
Read) CD-R drives. It is a powerful system extension which allows you to
write to a CD-R disc dynamically, like a floppy disk or any other disk
drive. You simply initialize a blank CD-R disc, assign the drive letter
of your choice and access it like any other device. Standard O/S commands
such as Copy, Delete, Rename, Move, Run, etc. are supported in the JVC
CD-R Extensions Software for transparent recording to the CD-R drive. Utilizing
Variable Packet recording, it generates minimal of overhead per recording
and ensures that each CD-ROM disc can accommodate literally hundreds of
recordings before finalization. Users can record CD-ROMs in ISO-9660 format
(cross-platform compatibility) or Back-up mode (DOS or Windows only). Additionally,
Back-up mode offers the advantage of password encryption for added security
of your CD-ROM data. Furthermore, for added convenience and ease-of-use,
no additional A/V-rated SCSI hard disk is required. Any hard disk, including
IDE or enhanced IDE, or network drive can be used to record directly to
this local CD-R disc.
These versatile systems come in four configurations: internal or external
5.25" half-height drive,
mini-tower model with a 1 GB SCSI hard disk, and Multi-Drive systems that
hold up to five CD-Recording drives and a 1 GB SCSI hard disk. RomMaker
Multi-Drive model options support requirements for recording 5, 10, 20,
or up to 100 CD-R discs in parallel at the same time!
